Installing new windows? Some homeowners are unsure what to expect with this type of home improvement, especially if it’s the first time they’ve invested in a replacement window installation.

Since 1984, Optum Home Solutions has completed thousands of window installations, and our Phoenix window replacement company’s remodeling specialists have put together a short guide of what will happen during your window installation.

Initial Consultation

Learn about the features of the replacement windows and the available styles. Whether you know the kind of new windows you want for each room or aren’t sure which is best, a knowledgeable window specialist will be able to give you the information you need to make the decision.

Pre-Installation Prep

Typically, a day or two before the installation, an installer will walk through your home and go through the list of which windows are being replaced.

Another thing that will happen prior to the installation is prep work, such as putting up tarps and scaffolding and laying drape cloths to protect furniture and floors.

Old Window Removal and New Window Installation

One by one, old windows will be removed and immediately replaced with new windows. By putting the new window in right away, it prevents your home from being exposed to the elements.

When putting in the new windows, the installers ensure it fits properly, use shims to level the window and secure it in place. Then, they add caulking and insulation to complete the installation.

Clean Up

When the job is done, the installation team will clean up the area, leaving your home just as clean as when they arrived. Finally, you’ll do a walk-through with the job-site supervisor.
